Our Steering Committee reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the network, and its commitment to go beyond disciplinary boundaries.

Prof. Daniel Garber, Stuart Professor of Philosophy, Chair of the Dept. of Philosophy, Princeton University. Associate Member of Dept. of History of Science and Dept. of Politics. He is the Co-Editor of the Oxford Studies in Early Modern Philosophy. His areas of expertise are seventeenth-century metaphysics and epistemology, and the interaction between history of science and history of philosophy (especially Leibniz).

Prof. Ofer Lahav, Perren Chair of Astronomy (UCL); Vice-Dean for Research in the Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MAPS) Faculty (UCL); and Vice-President of the Royal Astronomical Society. Chair of the International Dark Energy Survey (DES) Science Committee.

Prof. Béatrice Longuenesse, Silver Professor, Dept. of Philosophy, New York University. Prof. Longuenesse is member of the Advisory Boards for Archiv für Geschichte der Philosophie, Kant-Studien, and Cambridge History of Philosophy. Her main areas of expertise are early modern philosophy, Kant’s epistemology and Kantian themes in contemporary philosophy of mind.

Prof. Sandra Mitchell, Chair of Dept. of History and Philosophy of Science, Pittsburgh. Prof. Mitchell is an expert in philosophy of biology, in particular the nature of biological laws. She is currently working on a project on protein folding in biochemistry. Her publications include Ceteris paribus laws (Erkenntnis 2002); Biological Complexity and Integrative Pluralism (CUP 2003);Unsimple Truths: Science, Complexity, and Policy (University of Chicago Press 2009).

Prof. Lisa Shabel, Associate Professor, Ohio State University. She is the author of Mathematics in Kant’s critical philosophy (Routledge, 2003) Her main areas of expertise are history of modern philosophy, history of mathematics and Kant’s philosophy of mathematics.
